Region: Barolo DOCG, Piemonte, Italy.
Producer: Luigi Oddero e Figli, a traditional family estate with historic vineyards across prime Barolo crus. Known for elegant, age-worthy Nebbiolo.
“Convento” is a classic Barolo cuvée, sourced from several estate parcels.
100% Nebbiolo
Color: Garnet red with brick reflections (typical of aged Nebbiolo).
Nose: Complex and layered, with rose petals, violet, tar, licorice, red cherry, plum, tobacco, and earthy spice.
Palate: Structured yet refined – firm tannins, vibrant acidity, red fruit core (cherry, raspberry), leather, and truffle hints.
Finish: Long, dry, persistent, with lingering floral and mineral notes.
2018 in Barolo was classic and balanced – elegant aromatics, supple fruit, and refined tannins, approachable earlier than powerful vintages like 2016.
Traditional style:
Long maceration on skins (about 25–30 days).
Aged in large Slavonian oak casks (botti grandi) for ~3 years.
Bottle-aged before release.
Built for aging but already showing harmony.
A true gastronomic wine, pairing with:
Braised meats (ossobuco, brasato al Barolo)
Game (venison, boar)
Mature cheeses (Parmigiano, Castelmagno)
Truffle dishes (tajarin with white truffle – Piemonte classic).
Drink now with decanting, but it will evolve beautifully through 2032–2038.
